Mission Community Hospital is currently looking for a Nurse Coordinator to join our growing and caring team. The Nurse Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing behavioral health patients and related processes throughout the hospital, including patients on the Behavioral Health Unit (BHU) and medical/surgical floors. This position will work closely with physicians, nurses, behavioral health staff, patients, and court representatives to ensure patient holds, hearings, required documentation, and other behavioral health processes are coordinated accurately and in a timely manner. The Nurse Coordinator will serve as a central resource for behavioral health-related matters across the hospital while helping ensure patient rights and hospital policies are followed.
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:30 AM–4:00 PM or 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
Pay Range: $32–$50 per hour
License: LVN or RN

QUALIFICATIONS
General Job Requirements / Certifications / Knowledge
- Current California LVN or RN license.
- Experience in behavioral health, acute care, or a related healthcare setting preferred.
- Knowledge of behavioral health holds and court hearing processes preferred.
- Ability to coordinate with patients, physicians, nursing staff, behavioral health staff, courts, and ancillary services.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality – HIPAA.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet time-sensitive deadlines.
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficient in computer operations and electronic medical records.
- Ability to work independently and coordinate behavioral health processes across multiple hospital units.
Essential Responsibilities
- Coordinate behavioral health patients and related processes throughout the hospital, including the BHU and medical/surgical floors.
- Monitor and coordinate 5250s, 5270s, conservatorships, and other applicable holds.
- Coordinate PC, Writ, and Riese hearings.
- Review the bed board and monitor upcoming hold expiration dates and required follow-up.
- Coordinate with medical-surgical RNs when a patient on a medical floor is placed on a behavioral health hold.
- Work closely with physicians and nursing staff to ensure required hold and hearing documentation is completed.
- Submit required hearing requests and documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
- Coordinate patient notification and participation in scheduled hearings.
- Document hearing outcomes and update applicable records, hold books, and bed boards.
- Assist staff with questions regarding behavioral health holds, hearings, and related processes.
- Ensure behavioral health processes are coordinated in accordance with hospital policies and applicable regulations.
- Help ensure patient rights and required legal processes are appropriately maintained.
- Serve as the central point of coordination between BHU, medical/surgical units, physicians, nursing staff, behavioral health services, and the courts.
