Job Overview:
Airbnb is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Staff Software Engineer to join our Developer Platform team for a 6-month contract position. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the tools, systems, and frameworks that empower Airbnb's software development teams to build and deploy high-quality applications quickly and efficiently. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, a deep understanding of developer tools and platforms, and a passion for creating an exceptional developer experience.
Contract Duration: 6 months
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, and performant tools, systems, and frameworks that support Airbnb's software development teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand their needs, gather requirements, and design solutions that improve productivity, efficiency, and code quality
- Drive the adoption of best practices, patterns, and standards across the organization, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in the developer platform, ensuring high availability and performance
- Stay current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies related to software development, developer tools, and platforms
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field
- 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on developer tools, platforms, or infrastructure
- Strong knowledge of programming languages, such as Java, Python, or Ruby, and software development methodologies, such as Agile or Scrum
- Experience with build systems, version control systems, continuous integration and deployment tools, and other developer tools and platforms
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
