Overview:
As a Sr. Systems Administrator for Global Infrastructure at Apple, you will play a vital role in ensuring the seamless performance, stability, and security of our global infrastructure systems. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to maintain and enhance the infrastructure that powers Apple's innovative products and services. We are looking for an experienced, proactive, and detail-oriented professional with excellent problem-solving skills and a strong understanding of system administration best practices.
Responsibilities:
- Administer, maintain, and optimize the performance of Apple's global infrastructure, including servers, storage, networking, and cloud resources.
- Implement and maintain security measures to safeguard critical infrastructure components, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
- Collaborate with other teams to design, plan, and implement infrastructure upgrades, expansions, and migrations.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure issues, working with internal stakeholders and external vendors as needed.
- Monitor system performance and capacity, proactively identifying potential issues and proposing solutions.
- Develop and maintain documentation, including standard operating procedures, system diagrams, and configuration details.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior team members, helping them grow their technical skills and knowledge.
- Participate in on-call rotations, providing after-hours support as needed to ensure continuous availability of critical systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in systems administration, with a focus on large-scale, global infrastructure environments.
- Strong expertise in managing and maintaining Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Solid understanding of networking protocols, principles, and technologies (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLAN, VPN, etc.).
- Familiarity with virtualization and containerization technologies, such as VMware, Hyper-V, or Docker.
- Knowledge of security best practices, including firewalls, intrusion detection, and encryption.
- Proficiency in scripting languages such as Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail, with a focus on delivering high-quality results.
